Uses of theatre worldwide, beyond the conventional stage, for education, therapy, social justice and community development. Emphasis on: methods of practice, from initial contact and gathering of material, to techniques of play creation, production and follow-through; theoretical underpinnings such as postcolonialism and liberatory pedagogy; and critical examination of applied theatre issues. Class meetings include lecture, discussion, videos, guests, and applied theatre practice. Counts toward Minor in Applied Theatre.
