Admission to the Drama Program

The Department of Drama encourages applications from high school seniors and also from current college students who wish to transfer.  Admission is based on both an academic application and an artistic evaluation.

The academic application is evaluated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at New York University in accordance with NYU’s guidelines and academic standards.  All applicants to the Department of Drama must complete NYU’s written application and provide the required supporting documentation.  The 2008 application, along with applications for housing and financial aid, may be found on NYU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions website.  You will be asked to indicate on your application that you are applying specifically to the Department of Drama, Undergraduate, at Tisch School of the Arts.  It is to your advantage to complete the academic application as early as possible.

The artistic evaluation, or Drama Artistic Review, is conducted by the Department of Drama and consists of an audition and an interview.  Please visit the Drama Artistic Review page of our website for more information.

Both the academic application and the artistic review are evaluated as a whole in order to determine admission.  Therefore, both parts must be complete before an admissions decision can be made.

If you are planning to visit NYU and would like to attend a Drama info session, you may call Tisch Student Affairs at 212 998 1900 to make a reservation.   The Department holds info sessions three times a week throughout most of the year.
